Mark Carney, Former Central Banker and Bitcoin Critic, Elected as Canada's New Prime Minister

The Liberal Party of Canada has announced that Mark Carney, a former central banker and Bitcoin critic, will be Canada's new prime minister. Carney won in a landslide vote on March 9 to replace Justin Trudeau, who held the position for over seven years. Prior to this, Carney served as governor of the Bank of Canada from 2008 to 2013 and then as governor of the Bank of England for seven years. He has been critical of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, advocating for central bank digital currencies instead. Carney also plans to retaliate against US President Donald Trump's tariffs on Canadian goods.
