The U.S. Congress held a bipartisan discussion on cryptocurrency legislation, with DeFi regulation becoming the focus.

a "Cryptocurrency Lightning War" meeting was held near Capitol Hill in the United States recently, with both parties holding roundtable discussions with industry leaders. White House Cryptocurrency and AI Tsar David Sacks stated that legislation on market structure is the government's top priority this year. At the Democratic Party meeting, senators acknowledged that cryptocurrencies provide opportunities for voters who are unfairly treated under the traditional banking system, but Arizona Senator Gallego warned industry leaders not to become accomplices of the Republican Party due to the DeFi proposal leak incident. The Republican Party meeting focused on how to define and regulate DeFi, proposing to focus regulatory efforts on intermediaries rather than protocols, and suggesting that both parties and industry representatives jointly review the bill line by line. Senator Kennedy likened the legislative process to "the ups and downs of a heroin addict." Although both parties expressed willingness to cooperate, the specific next steps are not yet clear.
