Trump administration in talks to take stake in quantum computing company

several quantum computing companies are negotiating with the US Department of Commerce to provide equity in exchange for federal funding, indicating that the Trump administration is expanding its intervention in what it considers to be crucial economic sectors. According to sources, companies such as IonQ, Rigetti Computing, and D-Wave Quantum are discussing the government becoming a shareholder as part of an agreement for promising tech companies to receive special funding. Other companies in the quantum computing and atom computing sectors are also considering similar arrangements. Some sources say that two companies are discussing a minimum financing of $10 million each from Washington. It is expected that other tech companies will also compete for this funding.
